Pulitzer-prize-winning columnist Herb Caen liked to explore “Baghdad by the Bay” for its rich architectural history and legacy as a cultural center of the American Pacific Coast. A city where nearly every street here has its own story.
Even the street cars are exotic. The “F” line that runs down Market Street and up the Embarcadero consists of colorfully restored antiques from various cities around the country and the world.
San Francisco’s compact and confined geography, combined with an astonishing variety of destinations and things to do, make it the perfect location for upscale hotels. And a surplus of stately older buildings and a newly revitalized downtown have allowed hoteliers to open them.
