Fashionable timepieces from JeanRichard
If you’re tired of your old Rolex Daytona or just pawing around for a timely upgrade for your wrist, consider the new slate of timepieces from the prestigious watch manufacturer JeanRichard.
Based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the JeanRichard brand features watchmaking engineering that is rooted in Swiss watch manufacturing tradition. But the design is definitely not Swiss. Each of the new additions – the Paramount Time Square, the MV 75 World Champion and the Bressel Lady – owes its spiritual influence to Italian design with a dash of showmanship.
Influences from Cossack military and dark-and-tortured Goth to monochromatic minimalism and fun-and-frivolous Bohemian can be seen in an explosion of outerwear styles showing up on the runway and in design houses for Fall and Winter.
The trench, a travel essential, reigns as fashion centerpiece. Look for both compact shorter and languid longer styles in luxury fabrics. Women will enjoy short, boxy jackets in leather and tweeds but plaids are must-haves. If you add only one piece to your wardrobe this season, let it be plaid and make it the focal point. No more swinging-trapeze pattern lines of summer. Fall coat silhouettes have inched in this season to match figure-skimming fashions and belts are back, cinching in one of the defining differences between men and women.
Men look classic and relaxed in wide-leg trousers paired with bulky, homespun wool sweaters or dressy leather jackets. For a more formal look, two- or three-buttoned, double-breasted and even three-piece suits topped by classic A-line or military coats are de rigueur.
For her, Fall 2008 sees daytime hemlines going longer — most just above the knees. These more mature lengths carry youthful cheer in color, pattern and details. Even dark, gothic looks are offset by stunning fall florals. Mattes mix well with shiny fabrics; the stunning jewel tones — think ruby, sapphire, emerald and diamond — add sparkle as well as do sequins with other fashion fringe like feathers, lots of feathers. Small and large geometric patterns purposely clash
this season.
